A few months ago we posted a very popular blog, How To Create A Pinterest Account For Your Business. At that time, Pinterest did not offer “official” business or brand pages. Well, just like everything else Social Media, things have changed. Pinterest is now embracing its active community of businesses and brands by allowing Business Pages.
If you’ve already created a basic Pinterest account for your business, here’s how to convert your current page into a Business Page (we’re using our client Suzy B Jewelry to demonstrate):
Step 1 – Login to Pinterest. Go to business.pinterest.com. Click “Convert your existing account.”
Step 2 – On the next screen you’ll be prompted to provide your type of business. Examples include “Brand,” “Retailer,” & “Local Business,” among other options. Choose the one that makes the most sense for your business.
(It’s not entirely clear what function this serves yet, but it seems logical that this would influence how and where your business would appear in Pinterest’s search features.)
Next, provide a Contact Name and Email Address – these are not shown publicly.
Step 3 – Scroll down and complete your profile information:
That’s it! You’re finished converting your account. Upon completion you’ll see a similar version of the following screen:
- “Verify Website”
- “Add Bookmarklet”
- “Add Pin It Button”
- “Add Follow Button”
Verifying Your Pinterest Business Page
The process of verifying your Pinterest page requires a little bit more tech-savvy. In our next Pinterest blog, we’ll provide step-by-step instructions on how to and why you would want to verify your account – so consider subscribing to our blog.
