When I first saw the words “Be Seen, Be Heard, Be Chosen” on Betsy Kent’s website, I knew I had to meet her!

Our mutual friend,  Marilyn Sygrove, recently introduced me to Betsy. Marilyn is the founder of Sygrove Associates Design Group, which is an established and successful interior design firm in NYC. Betsy is the owner and founder of Be Visible Internet Marketing and is the creator of Blog School.

As a photographer, I work with women who need to expand their presence online by communicating to their clients how confident, friendly and approachable they are by conveying it with an image.  So, I had the “Be Seen” part down…now I needed to learn from Betsy the “Be Heard and Be Chosen” parts.

As we began to share the details of our respective businesses, Betsy said, “My approach revolves around one inherent truth: when you know exactly who you need to attract; when you have identified that person in minute detail; when you focus all your marketing efforts into attracting just him or her, your business will grow.”

In Blog School Betsy helps business owners identify their ideal customers and then use the Internet to attract them. Her students report that her Ideal Customer Identification Solution (the first three modules of the course) is “transformational”.

It was then that she told me that she uses my headshot of Marilyn Sygrove when she writes her blogs.

You use Marilyn’s headshot to write your blog?” I asked, begging for more information!

Betsy proceeded to explain to me that when she sits down to write her blog posts she “acts as if her ideal customer is sitting across the desk from her and just having a conversation.” She acts as if she’s talking to Marilyn!

I asked Betsy why she chose Marilyn to represent her ideal client. She explained: “Marilyn is my ideal client because she launched and grew her successful company before Internet marketing even existed. She hadn’t realized the extent to which her potential clients were using the web to make decisions until the day she Googled and discovered that she was literally invisible. Marilyn let me hold her hand and together we decided on needed changes. Today, she owns her category on the web!”

While working on Sygrove Associates’ online presence, Betsy wanted Marilyn to get a professional headshot. Marilyn chose Peek for the photography. Can you see the difference? Her new headshot exudes warmth, confidence, professionalism, and creativity. It’s no wonder that Marilyn’s business is thriving!

On the left, is the photo that Marilyn used to use for her professional image on Linked In. It was a low resolution file that got pixelated and not taken in a professional atmosphere.

On the right, is her updated image that conveys to her ideal clients that she is confident, friendly and professional.
