Here’s a great tip that I just had to share with you – and it has to do with the gold hidden in your client testimonials.

One of my clients is a highly accomplished interior designer. The project we have undertaken together is to update her website so it will connect more powerfully with her ideal clients.

Without investing in a website re-design!

Sounds like a tall order, right?

The fact is, you can really pump up the power of your website simply by updating the text on your home page.

But what text should your home page contain?

There’s gold hiding…in your client testimonials and customer reviews.

Try this:

Go to every platform that has client testimonials or customer reviews about you and/or your business. You’ll find reviews on your own website, your Facebook page, LinkedIn, Yelp, Google, or specific industry sites where your clients review your work. My client’s Houzz profile has tons of testimonials.

Copy all the testimonials onto one document. Read through them. Highlight all the delicious words and descriptions. Then make a list of all those words.

Here’s the list of words we found buried in her client testimonials:

That’s gold there! My client was blown away that all this powerful content was sitting there just waiting to be uncovered. Neither of us could have come up with more magnificent and delicious descriptions of her work than what her own clients already had written!

Now that we have this knowledge, new content containing words from her client testimonials will replace the boring, market-y content that is on her home page right now.

So, if your home page is boring and market-y (I made up that word), try digging for gold in your client testimonials and customer reviews. And update your website without having to hire a website designer! (it’s a lot cheaper and less painful!).

    Betsy, this is an amazing idea. I had my assistant go through all of my client testimonials and LinkedIn recommendations and she came up with a huge list of buried treasure. There are some fantastic words we’ll be able to use in my future content. Thank you for this information, pure gold!
